One month ago, I did a asking for your suggestions for an Ultimate Star Wars Drinking Game. And now that it's been a month and I've finished all my Star Wars reviews, it's time to reveal the rules in their entirely. I am very grateful to everyone who contributed, particularly to Andrew Cheyne whose comments both on the blog and Facebook contained copious useful and witty suggestions. While I can't give credit to every suggestion individually, I've tried to include as many as I can. So without further ado, here are the rules of The Ultimate Star Wars Drinking Game. In essence, Aimee and I have been spending the bulk of this month moving from Yeovil into our new home in Chard. With that has come a lot of stress and very little time for watching films of any description, let alone writing about them. Couple that with the current lack of internet at our new place at least for the next week or soand you have the reason for my radio silence. After the next fortnight I should be sufficiently unpacked to get back into the swing of things. You'll be getting my finished review of Chicken Run thereafter, followed by a few other reviews in hopefully quick succession. I have decided to discontinue The Goon Show Guide, which has been on hiatus for ages; it's just too hard to find the time for that and reviews. In the year 2000, titanic trinkspiel, Aardman Animations managed to pull this off. The show which in its prime provided a springboard for John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd has all too often resulted in poor, one-joke affairs which have no place being on the big screen. To some extent, we could hold Wayne's World responsible titanic trinkspiel this state of affairs. Its success at the box office opened the floodgates for the likes of Coneheads, It's Pat and Stuart Saves His Family to clutter up multiplexes on both sides of the pond at the expense of smarter, better comedies. But while those travesties are now largely forgotten in the minds of the movie-going public, Wayne… Things have been a little quiet on the front of late - and there's a very good reason for that. The cast of regulars and a new face or two have been working hard over the last few months to bring us two one-act plays, which are being presented in Broadclyst this Friday and Saturday July 28th and 29th. Aside from presenting stupendous pantomimes on an annual basis, Broadclyst Theatre Group has always had a knack for putting on cracking one act play. I grant you, I'm biased, having been in both and the one-acterwhich won the Exmouth One Act Play Festival a few years back. But having been in and around this company for so long, I have no reason to doubt that their latest venture will continue in such a consistently rich vein though it will be tough to titanic trinkspielwhich remains one of the best shows I have ever seen. An interesting titanic trinkspiel of this is that films of these sub-genres reflect the environment of the country in which they are set, and the means by which that environment is personified. In a densely populated country like Britain, films as varied asand The Selfish Giant all take the built-up, urban environment of major cities titanic trinkspiel make them the embodiment of all that is chaotic, faceless, unpredictable, violent and, in the case of Philip Ridley's film, evil. In America, where whole sections of the country are more sparsely populated, different parts of the country take on this characteristic. The mid- to late-1990s were a dark time for superhero films, with everything from Tank Girl and The Phantom to and Steel pointing to a tired genre and an increasingly spandex-weary public. In this context the success of was a pleasant surprise, with a sequel being given the go-ahead shortly after its release. It's completely logical that Bryan Singer would want to use X2 to expand the X-Men universe on screen; with less time being needed to set up the world from the first film, there is more scope for introducing some of the more complicated elements of the X-Men mythos. The career-making success of the original film, for both its star Macaulay Culkin and its director Chris Columbus, mean… This is a reprint of my review first published on this blog in November 2016, with a number of minor revisions. You can read my original review. And regardless of what film may top said lists - would be my personal choice - there is one thing of which you can almost be certain: Die Hard will be somewhere on those lists. In the 29 years since it first graced the silver screen, John McTiernan's tour de force has become regarded not just as one of the definitive 1980s action films, but also the definitive alternative Christmas film. Modern audiences are asked to believe that the character has been the same age for more than 50 years, and the series has bent or tinkered with its conventions ever so slightly as the decades have rolled past in order to stay relevant. While this has kept the Bond series as a whole firmly in the realms of fantasy, it has allowed individual entries in the series to push for something more gritty or realistic; if it works, it's embraced and carried forward, and if not the series reverts to type with very few tears. Since the franchise was effectively rebooted with Casino Royale, an approach more becoming of comic books has been employed: different writers and directors come in and somehow try to stitch all the character's actions together in….
